One-hour interview 2

Yesterday I had a　”one-hour interview” with one of my three bosses.

I was asked various kinds of questions about our business, mainly about my thoughts and feelings.

The highlight of the interview was the question “What area can Germany HQ do better?”

I answered, “To do better backup work during someone’s three-week vacation in summer.”

My boss and his colleague laugh for a while.

I also explained that in Japan, the longest vacation is typically 10 days, and, more importantly, almost everyone takes holidays at the same time.

This is the biggest reason why everywhere is crowded and everything is expensive during the year-end and beginning, Golden Week and Obon holidays in Japan.

Shall we take turns to take vacations?

2浪1留の末慶應義塾大学理工学部応用化学科卒業、一貫して外資系化学・医農動物薬受託企業日本法人でセールスエンジニアのキャリアを積む。

大学新卒で勤務した米系1社目、勤続18年余りで退職勧奨を受け、不本意ながら44歳で辞職。米系2社目に転職すると同時に「自身を磨き上げる」目的を行動に移す。ヘッドハントされて50歳から英系3社目に転職。販売困難な特殊技術を売る「最後の砦」のセールスエンジニアとして悪戦苦闘するも、2年後にポジションクローズを言い渡され(人生二度目の退職勧奨)、52歳の高齢で余儀なくされた転職活動を経て現在ドイツ系4社目に勤務。明確な目標を達成するため意欲的・刺激的な毎日を過ごす。

深く考える・読書・さまざまな自己啓発・趣味を通じて自身で構築したノウハウを礎に、3度の転職ですべて満足度と収入両方のアップを勝ち取る。1社目入社直後に受けたTOEICは430点。以後アウトプットを中心とした方法で「伝える英語」を習得、現在は業務英語を自在に操る。

宇都宮市の自宅から東京までの新幹線通勤歴27年、乗車総距離は地球40周に相当する。趣味は献血(339回)とランニング、フルマラソン完走31回(ベストタイム2時間58分31秒)。
